Marcus Beresford died in County Dublin on 4 April 1763, leaving behind a house full of children and a title that had climbed from baronet to earl. He had represented Coleraine, sat in the Lords, and mastered Irish Freemasonry before King George II raised him to Earl of Tyrone in 1746. His life moved through guardians, marriages and public honour, but it ended in the same Irish county where his family’s power had become visible.
