Man-made underground passage in Tuar An Chladáin

In S facing, open mountain terrain between Coomacarrea and Meenteog, on the N side of the Owroe river valley. A cluster of eight huts occur on a terraced ledge. The hut at N (KE081-001002-) is the best preserved; Immediately on its NE side is the entrance to a triple roomed semi-subterranean chamber (KE081-001001-). The corbelled drystone chambers, roofed with lintels, extend to W, N and E, and average 2.2m long, 1m high and 1m wide. This complex is locally known as Uaigh an Duine. It is also called Clochán na gCaorach (information: B. Ó Cíobháin). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
