What is recorded here

Yes. An earth-cut passage with possible chambers opened in the southeast of a rath near Shanbally, small enough for one person to enter but wide enough to suggest deliberate making. Children may have crawled through it in the 1960s, listening for echo in chambers no longer certain. A collapse beside the sports field in the early 1990s brought dirt and forgetting, while overgrowth took the rath back in 2004. The passage did not disappear so much as stop answering.

In a rath (CO087-039---), adjacent to a sports field. According to local information, an earth-cut Man-made underground passage with an opening (Wth 0.88m; H 0.65m) in the SE quadrant of the rath was accessible in the 1960s. It consisted of passages and some possible chambers. Also according to local information, in the early 1990s a part of the sports field collapsed but it was filled in. The rath was inaccessible in 2004 due to overgrowth and the opening to the Man-made underground passage was not located.
