Man-made underground passage in Rathfield

Not marked on the OS maps, there is no surface trace of the 'blocked Man-made underground passage and habitation site' noted by O'Connell at this location (KAS). Situated in a S sloping field of pasture, close to the N shore of Kenmare Bay, O'Connell reported the finding of 'remains' in the Man-made underground passage; it is not clear to what he was referring. It is possible that this and the following site are the same Man-made underground passage. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
