Rathanker is an underground passage in a ringfort in County Cork. It was visible until about the 1880s, then a flat stone and soil covered it. The earth kept the hole closed while memory kept the shape alive.

In ringfort (CO087-006---). According to Hurse (1926, 90) 'subterranean passage or cave was to be seen between forty and fifty years ago. It is now covered with a large flat stone and the soil has grown over it'. No visible surface trace. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
