What is recorded here
Under Minanes, a hidden passage cuts through the ringfort, vanished from sight but still breathing in the dark. Roots and soil have choked the interior, yet the man-made shape remains clear beneath the green decay. People may have walked there in times when the surface world turned cruel, descending into cool shadow to keep what mattered safe. The earth swallowed the entrance, but it never erased the purpose.
According to local information, Man-made underground passage in ringfort (CO120-027---). No visible surface trace but interior heavily overgrown.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
