Man-made underground passage in Loughpark (leitrim By.)

Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

Loughpark is a blank spot on the Galway border where a hidden passage and ringfort vanished without a trace. The land holds no stone, no ditch, no mark to prove the claim, yet local memory insists the earth swallowed both. What disappeared there is not loss but transformation: the region kept its shape by removing the part that could be pointed at.
On the S-facing slope of a hillock in pastureland. According to local information a Man-made underground passage and ringfort (GA125-----) were formerly located here. No visible surface trace survives. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 17 April 2019

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
