What is recorded here

There is a man-made underground passage in the heart of Lisdoo, though it is no longer reachable. It may have been a hiding place, a storage hole, or a room for rituals when the ringfort above was busy. The earth has taken it back, but the shape of human intention remains buried beneath the grass.

The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Situated in interior of 'Lisdoo' ringfort (LH007-016001-) according to Tempest (CLAJ 1912, 26). Now inaccessible.
