Knockrour holds a man-made underground passage inside a ringfort, though no entrance or chamber remains visible today. The 1842 OS Name Books called it a cave with rooms, suggesting people cut or shaped space beneath the fort for storage, refuge, ritual or ordinary domestic use. Whatever the rooms contained has vanished, leaving only the possibility that Knockrour once opened beneath its own ground.
