What is recorded here

Killountane holds a lost stone chamber beside a rath, waiting for boots and lantern light. The ground there still remembers the weight of a tractor and the sudden birth of a narrow passage. People may have walked that dark line long before modern wheels broke it open.

In the N half of a rath (CO097-035----). According to local information, a Man-made underground passage was discovered here in 1996 when the ground collapsed under the weight of a tractor. It was described as a N-S stone-lined passage. It was subsequently filled in. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
