What is recorded here

No visible remains exist, yet local memory claims a large cave lay beneath the Killeagh rath until its entrance was deliberately closed. The passage may have served as a hidden refuge or storage space for the people who built the earthen fort. Its disappearance suggests someone wanted to erase the underground option rather than share it.

In a rath (KE058-061---). In the 1980s it was recorded that there was a large cave underneath the rath but that the entrance to it had been closed up for many years (Castleisland District Archaeological Survey).
