What is recorded here
Killacoosane holds a buried chamber born from collapse rather than digging, its clay roof curving like the inside of a bowl. The ground gave way during silage cutting in the early 2000s, revealing a narrow opening and a short passage beside a standing stone. People may have cut it as a construction shaft, then blocked it and let the pasture swallow the purpose. The view runs to Glandore Harbour, but the hole points downward, keeping its own secret beneath the grass.
In pasture, on a S-facing slope with views over rolling countryside to the mouth of Glandore Harbour. This Man-made underground passage was discovered in the early 2000s when the ground collapsed during silage cutting. The resulting opening (1.1m N-S; D 0.8m) leads down to a chamber (L c. 2m), the curving roof of which appears to have been cut from clay. The Man-made underground passage has been largely filled in for safety reasons and was inaccessible. According to local information, there are traces of a stone wall on one side. This may be a blocked-up construction shaft. There is a standing stone (CO143-045----) c. 25m to the E.
