Neary recorded in 1914 that the garth of the Gortnalea ringfort contains a man-made underground passage, yet no surface trace remains and its exact position has slipped from local memory. The earth may still hide a narrow tunnel cut for trade, flight or ritual, waiting beneath grass and rain. Forgetting does not erase the shape of human intention; it only removes the marker that told others where to look.

Within ringfort (GA005-070----). Neary (1914, 121, no. 66) notes that the garth of this rath 'contains a Man-made underground passage'. It is remembered locally, but its exact position could not be pin-pointed and no visible surface trace survivies.
