Gortnagark held a stone-lined chamber eight feet long, four wide and four high, reached through a fifteen-foot passage on Mr Stoke's land. People built that underground room deliberately, yet they removed its stones and buried it before Bowman recorded it in 1934. The field keeps no fort or marker, but it once gave up a narrow dark space made for human use.

Bowman (1934, 700) recorded a Man-made underground passage on 'Mr Stoke's land. A passage, about 15 ft. long, led to this Man-made underground passage, which measured about 8ft x 4ft x 4ft high. It was stone lined. The stones were removed about 17 years ago, and the chamber filled in. There is no sign of a fort in this field'. Exact location not known.
