Cave is marked beside Clahereen on the 1841-42 map, suggesting a man-made passage beneath the little stone fort. The fort stands on a rise with a wide view, enclosed by an earth-and-stone bank. Its interior once showed three large house-sites, but ploughing had erased them before the second visit.

Clahereen/Cathairín (little stone fort). Situated on a rise, univallate cahir KE015-003---- has an excellent view of the surrounding area. The site is enclosed by a well-defined earth-and-stone bank 'Cave' is marked on the 1841-42 OS map, suggesting a Man-made underground passage (KE015-003001-). When first visited, the interior displayed three large house-sites, but all had been completely ploughed out when we returned to survey. The above description is derived from C.
