Dooneens holds a collapsed underground passage inside a ringfort bank, marked only by a shallow depression wide enough for one person to fall through. The passage may have given the fortress a hidden exit, a breathing hole, or a way for people to disappear when danger came above. What is missing has not stopped the place from speaking; its absence is the shape of the story.

In SW quadrant of ringfort (CO080-01801-). Depression (diam. 0.9m; D 0.45m) c. 10m inside the bank may indicate collapsed Man-made underground passage.
