Man-made underground passage in Creevy

Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

Death and darkness may have swallowed the entrance, but the passage remains beneath the western rise in Creevy. People built it deliberately, perhaps to hide, pray or escape, while the earth closed over their effort. The rath still holds the shape of that hidden work, waiting for someone brave enough to listen for the difference between soil and purpose.
In a rath (MA038-068). According to local tradition, there is a Man-made underground passage in the rath. A slight rise in ground level in the W half of the rath interior may indicate the location. 6th March 1996 Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 31 July 2019
