What is recorded here
In a rath (KE058-050----). There are no visible remains of this Man-made underground passage. A lane crosses the N half of the rath on an E-W axis and a waterlogged area on this lane may mark its location. It was recorded in the 1840s that a 'cavern...was discovered in 1832 by labourers who were sinking a small lane or carway which runs through the centre of the Fort' (OSNB, Kilcummin, no. 3, 23).
