What is recorded here

No visible entrance remains in the northwest sector of the Bellavary ringfort, but a long rectangular hollow stretches eleven metres through the nettle bed near the inner bank. The missing roof and walls suggest a deliberate underground passage rather than a natural ditch. Someone dug through solid ground, built a roof, and used the dark tunnel for purposes the earth has since swallowed.

In the NW sector of a ringfort (MA070-118----), close to the edge of the inner enclosing bank. A long, nettle-filled rectangular hollow (L 11m NE–SW; Wth 4.5m; D 1-1.2m) may be the remains of a robbed-out Man-made underground passage. Date of visit: 9-5-2025 Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy
