Knockaunnahona hides a man-made passage now closed, perhaps sealed by rope, rot or simply forgetting. The terrace may have served as a shelter, a boundary marker or a childish trap for lonely moons. Its exact position vanished before modern cameras arrived, leaving only the name and a warning that the ground can swallow its own history.

A possible Man-made underground passage, situated on a terrace locally known as Knockaunnahona/Cnocán na hÓn, is recorded in the OSNB where it is described as a ‘cave ... now closed’ (Templeno, 3). The precise location of this site could not be determined. It is not marked on the OS maps. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
