Man-made underground passage in Ballymacool

A Man-made underground passage roughly aligned NNW-SSE. It consists of a passage 5.2m × 1.1m at its S end narrowing to .6m, 4m along and widening out to 1.4m at the N end where the wall is flat and bonded into the side walls. There is a small recess in the S wall .4m × 0.5m, In the E wall there is a small passage .28m above the ground level. It is .4m × 0.4m but the interior has collapsed. The average height of the Man-made underground passage is c. 1m. It is roofed with flagstones a gap in these at the S end gives entry. It is situated in an orchard in good land on a slope falling away to the River Swilly to the S. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal.
