What is recorded here

No visible trace remains of the stone-built cave that ran northeast-southwest toward the round tower in Ardrahan North. It vanished before human memory, leaving only the graveyard soil and the tower standing above what may have been a hidden chamber or passage. The absence is sharper than ruin because nothing broke open to reveal it.

Within a graveyard (GA114-001004-). McCaffrey (1952, 279, no. 4) recorded that this Man-made underground passage was located ‘immediately east’ of the round tower (GA114-001005-). According to local information, a stone-built ‘cave’, running NE-SW towards the tower, was accessible in the early 1950s. No visible surface trace survives.
