Man-made underground passage in An Rinnín

An opening to a stone-built Man-made underground passage (KE106-115001-) passage is located just inside the enclosing element of the caher in its N sector. The passage is aligned N-S and is at least 4.5m long. Its sides are formed by upright slabs overlain with drystone masonry, and it is roofed with lintels. There is an accumulation of stone and earthen fill, including a collapsed lintel, along the passage, both ends of which are blocked with collapse. The passage averages 1.2m wide and is up to 1.3m high. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
