Man-made underground passage

On level ground in otherwise hilly grassland. Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1930) as an isolated Man-made underground passage. It is inaccessible but from a small gap in the roof, it appears to consist of an almost completely blocked-up drystone-built passage running on a NW-SE axis. According to Neary (1914, 120, no. 25), it 'marks the site or proximity of a ravelled fort', no visible surface trace of which survives.
