Mabel Cahill

Ballyragget House in County Kilkenny birthed Mabel Cahill in 1863, the twelfth of thirteen children who later became the first foreign woman to win a major tennis tournament. She left that crowded household for Dublin in 1886, carrying skills honed during upper-class tennis parties rather than formal training.
