Lucien Bull

Lucien Bull, born in County Dublin in 1876 to a British father and French mother, became the man who taught cameras to see speed itself. He succeeded Etienne Jules Marey, captured dragonflies and jumping bodies in fractions of a second, and later helped both France and Britain measure the invisible motions of war and the heart. Dublin gave him life; elsewhere he gave that life back in light, making the impossible visible and the hidden measurable.
