What is recorded here
Louis le Brocquy was born in Dublin on 10 November 1916, the city that later claimed his extraordinary seven-decade career. He painted portrait heads of Yeats, Joyce and Beckett with such immediacy they still breathe, and his family scenes commanded million-pound prices while he was alive. Dublin gave him life, visibility and legacy; he returned that gift in canvas and ink.
