Losset Cist

A rectangular cist 1.12m × 0.34m orientated E-W was found here. The floor consisted of a slab-stone as did the side and end walls which were backed by a second slab. The cist had been covered by a slab when found and contained cremated bones. .5m S of the cist but in the cist pit were found sherds of a foodvessel/encrusted urn type vessel. It was located in a sand ridge in poor rocky pasture. (Ó Ríordáin 1960, 9-12). The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal.
