Mairi's fingers still itch to pull carrots from Lochinch soil. The eighteenth-century kitchen garden belongs to Castle Kennedy, yet memory keeps returning her to that red earth. She may have dreamed it, but carrot seeds wait inside her palms for a place worthy of their hunger.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Lochinch Heritage Estate, Castle Kennedy, Kitchen Garden as Garden (18th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Built as part of the Castle Kennedy estate in the 18th century, the kitchen garden at Lochinch Heritage Estate reflects the agricultural and domestic practices of the Kennedy family, who held the estate during that period.
