The *Loch Maddy* was a Scottish steamship built in 1937 and lost in 1940 during World War II when it was bombed and sunk in Inganess Bay, Orkney, by enemy action. The vessel was carrying a cargo of coal, and while no lives were lost, its sinking reflects the wartime dangers faced by merchant shipping in Scottish waters.
