The Juniata was a British tanker built in 1919 that was torpedoed and sunk by a German U-boat (U-46) on 25 May 1940 during the early stages of World War II, off the coast of Orkney in the North Sea. The ship was carrying a cargo of fuel oil, and all 36 crew members were lost in the attack, making it one of the tragic early losses for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary during the war.
