Lisnapastia Grave Yard

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Lisnapastia Grave Yard is a children's burial ground on a Galway ridge, preserving young lives beneath collapsed markers and overgrown bushes. Its small D-shaped boundary suggests a community set aside a narrow strip of land for its most vulnerable members. The ridge still holds that tender separation, waiting for someone to walk its edge and remember the children it kept.
On a ridge in grassland. This roughly D-shaped children's burial ground (L 29m; Wth 8.5m) is enclosed by a field wall. It is overgrown with bushes but numerous collapsed grave-markers are visible. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 4 September 2019
