Lisboy

In pasture, on a gentle SW-facing slope. A circular area (diam. c. 7m N-S) enclosed by a shallow fosse (Wth 0.9m at base; D 0.8m) and a low external earth and stone bank (Wth 1.9m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.35m). A possible entrance is at NE, with a possible causeway across the fosse. The fosse and bank are very overgrown with furze and briars along the W arc while along the NE arc they have been poached by cattle. The interior, which is covered with overgrowth, is marginally higher than the external ground level and is slightly convex at the centre. A Neolithic ring tomb, dating to the 4th–3rd millennia BCE. Its construction features, including a fosse and bank, are typical of early ceremonial enclosures in Atlantic Europe, reflecting communal burial and ritual practices.
