Hot lime burned inside the castle walls during the Post Medieval period, feeding construction and change throughout Pembrokeshire. The kiln turned stone into white powder for mortar, plaster and perhaps quieter experiments in making things stick. Pembroke Castle still stands beside that forgotten heat, carrying the smell of fire and the shape of hands that fed it.
