Lenan Fort is a British coastal battery built in 1902 on the Donegal cliffs, holding three massive guns that aimed across Lough Swilly until Irish control returned in 1938. The central and northern guns sat above rock-cut magazines where crews sheltered during fire, while the southern gun kept its own separate underground room. After the war the fort lost its guns, its men and its purpose, becoming an empty concrete wound in the cliff by 1952.

The official built-heritage record describes three large gun emplacements sunk into the cliff edge, linked to underground magazines, stores and shelters. Lenan Fort guarded Lough Swilly, remained under British control after 1921, returned to Irish control in 1938, was used during the Second World War and was abandoned in 1952.

The official record does not grant public access. The fort is ruinous and contains drops, underground spaces and broken structures.
