This blue commemorative plaque records: Leicester and Leicestershire Maternity Hospital occupied the site from 1905 to 1971 Known locally as Bond Street Hospital, it was Leicester's first maternity hospital and the inspiration of the local branch of the National Union of Women Workers Recorded plaque organisation: Leicester City Council.
Leicester and Leicestershire Maternity Hospital, known locally as Bond Street Hospital, served as Leicester's first dedicated maternity facility from 1905 to 1971, significantly improving maternal and infant health outcomes in the region. It was also a catalyst for women’s activism, inspiring the local branch of the National Union of Women Workers.
