Leathabhal rises to approximately 305 metres and is part of the rugged landscape of the Outer Hebrides. Its name, derived from the Gaelic for "flat field," may reflect its use as a grazing area or its relatively level summit in comparison to surrounding peaks. As a mapped feature in Na h-Eileanan Siar, it contributes to the geographical and cultural identity of the region.
