Leacht in High Island is a small rectangular stone structure beside the church and clochan on High Island in County Galway. It stands over a rock-cut water trough and drainage channel, with a decorated cross-slab found nearby that may have risen above it. The place suggests worship, memory and practical life joined together: water made usable, stones set deliberately, and a marker kept visible.

This leacht was uncovered during the course of excavations to the E of the entrance of ‘Cell B’, the clochan (GA021-026018-) to the E of the church (GA021-026014-) on High Island (Scally 2014). It was rectangular in plan (1.3m N-S; 0.9m E-W) and the walls survived from one to three courses in height. It was built over the N end of a rock-cut water trough and the side-wall of a drainage channel. A decorated cross-slab (GA021-026060-) that was found in rubble overlying it may have originally stood upright upon it (ibid., 111-12). A similar leacht (GA021-026085-) was uncovered c. 5m to the S.
