Leacht is a fire altar, not a church or cafe. It stood inside the church on High Island in County Galway, waiting for flame and breath. The base measured 1.2m N-S and 1.2m E-W, with a long slender stone set on edge along its N and E sides. Small flat stones filled the core, compact and patient beneath the floor.

During excavations works within the church (GA021-026014-) on High Island, the base of a leacht (1.2m N-S; 1.2m E-W) was uncovered in the SW corner. Its N and E sides were defined by a long slender stone set on edge and the core material consisted of small flat stones (Scally 2014, 70). Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 24 November 2015
