What is recorded here

No visible trace remains of the stone altar recorded a few perches east of the oratory, but the buried leacht may still underline the crowded graveyard where people have long set markers, poured water and remembered the dead. The Ferta and Slievagh watch the same sloping ground, while the forgotten altar continues the old Iveragh practice of returning again and again to one small stone point. What is missing has not stopped the place holding its shape; it has only removed the part that could be touched.

Situated within a large rectangular graveyard (KE079-026002-) on gently sloping land between Slievagh mountain and the Ferta river at S. The extent of the modern graveyard appears to have obliterated any other early features which may have existed on this site, including a possible leacht recorded here in the early 1840s (OSL). Possible Leacht: The OSL recorded a 'stone altar' which was located 'a few perches' E of the oratory (KE079-026001-) and formed the focal point for the stations which were formerly performed at the site.
