Lawrence Roche was born in Dublin on 15 October 1967 and became a professional racing cyclist. He rode for Carrera Jeans-Vagabond from 1989 to 1990, then joined Tonton Tapis-GB in 1991. During that final season he entered the Tour de France alongside his brother Stephen, completed a long solo breakaway, and finished 153rd before sponsorship collapsed and his career ended.
