Largysillagh Coastal Enclosure

Internal Dimensions 13.9m NNE-SSW, 12.1m WNW-ESE. A roughly rectangular area enclosed on the northern and western sides by the remains of what appears to have been a wall, 1.25m to 1.45m, in width, which is now largely covered by earth giving the impression of a bank 3.1m to 3.7m in width. On the eastern and southern sides the site is defined by a low, steep, but not sheer sea-cliff edge. It is possible that the enclosing feature has been eroded on these sides as a short stretch of the bank/wall is evident on the ESE side. This bank varies from .3m to .6m in height. The site is located on a gradual slope to the sea in fairly good pasture. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal.
