Freestanding square-profile rubble stone monument, dated 1712, in memory of John Lynch Fitz[…], having carved limestone inscribed plaque recessed into south face. Set inside gateway to Lavally House, his former residence.
This interesting monument is of Leacht Cuimhne type, i.e. a memorial. It is one of a distinctive group in County Galway and one of a small group in the district. Typically it has an inscribed plaque in English set into a rubble stone plinth.
