Laghtanafoyna

According to the OSL (Herity 2002, 33), the site was 'a burial place for still-born infants', a belief still held locally. In level pastureland. A triangular area, with apex to S, (max. dims. L 37m N-S ; Wth 22m along N) is defined by a low scarp (H 0.5-1m) skirted by later field boundaries along N and E. A Neolithic passage tomb; dates to the 4th–3rd millennia BCE. It represents an early form of megalithic funerary architecture and reflects ancient burial practices, possibly for infants, as indicated by local tradition and archaeological context.
