Knockbaun Grave Yard holds four rows of small limestone uprights on a gentle Galway slope, marking children excluded from churchyards under old Catholic rules. Farmers likely pushed larger boulders along the northern edge during field clearance, leaving the graves untouched while making nearby land usable. The absence of names and dates does not empty the place; it preserves the quiet desperation of families who buried their losses at night and trusted the hill to remember what human pride would have erased.
In pastureland on the E slope of a hill in the Slieve Aughty mountain range. This children's burial ground is defined by a raised rectangular area (8.5m N-S; 4.2m E-W) upon which four rows small limestone uprights mark graves. Along the N side a number of large boulders are probably the result of field clearance.
