Knockaclocaun Fort is a levelled oval bank in County Clare pasture, facing another ringfort twenty-five metres away. The gap on the west side suggests an entrance, while the rest has surrendered to grass and time. Two forts so close may have belonged to rivals, relatives or neighbours arguing over boundary stones. Whatever they guarded, the land smoothed it out until only a shadow of a bank remains.

On a low-lying gently undulating area, in improved pasture. The monument is overlooked by higher ground W-NE and is overlooking ringfort (CL035-071----) c. 25m to SE. It is depicted on all OS historic mapping and named ‘Knockaclocaun Fort’. It survives as the barely traceable remains of an oval area (32m NW-SE; 26m NE-SW) defined by a levelled bank (int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.15m; Wth at top 4.5m; overall Wth 9.3m) W-NNE. The monument is levelled out with little trace NNE-E. A short trace of a scarp (Wth 4.5m; H 0.45m) is evident E-ESE. The curvilinear field boundary is likely to incorporate the bank (int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.3; Wth at top 0.5m; overall Wth 3.7m) ESE-SW. A short return of a levelled bank extends into the field SW-WSW.
