What is recorded here

Knock Castle and West Lodge occupy the same narrow point in North Ayrshire, though no human date or builder has yet been named for either. The land may have worn both shapes at once: a castle in memory and a lodge in practice. That gap between the two is the interesting part.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Knock Castle, West Lodge as Lodge (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
