Kirkton

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Kirkton as Chapel (medieval) - (post Medieval)(possible), Well (medieval) - (post Medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Linked to an unidentified medieval chapel, the Kirkton well may have been a site of Christian pilgrimage and local healing traditions, common in rural Scotland where holy wells were often associated with saintly intercession or natural curative properties. Little specific folklore survives, but such sites were frequently used for seasonal rituals and water-related blessings.
