Kinnaird Castle has housed Clan Carnegie since 1409, surviving a royal burn in 1452, a Jacobite confiscation, and a devastating 1921 fire. James Playfair reshaped the ruins into a grand house in 1791, while Victorian hands later restored its baronial pride. The castle still stands near Brechin, carrying six centuries of loyalty, loss, and reinvention in its stone.
