Kilree Graveyard

Kilree Graveyard holds ruins of a church believed built before 1000 A.D., where stones from the 13th to 18th centuries still mark the dead. The altar tomb of the Comerfords and St. Legers, dated 1622, remains the finest monument, perhaps made by the Kerin’s school. Five other stones commemorate the Izod family, who held land from the Duke of Ormonde and built Chapel Izod in 1672, now gone to ruin.
